Bug Fixes

  • Jumping is much more responsive
  • You can no longer clip into world geometry and other objects
  • After collecting a secret firework, the UI that appears is rendered in the correct way
  • Spamming the mouse button to progress in the intro and outro should no longer result in the next scene being loaded several times
  • Updated to Unity 2020.3, which might fix certain issues(or not)

Improvements

  • Added health bars to enemies
  • You can now jump by holding down the space bar(relates to more responsive jumping)
  • Changed the carpet texture
  • Made the sides of boxes more obvious
  • Activating a checkpoint or dying refills your fireworks; however, firework boxes are still here if you need fireworks
  • Added a cave that gives the beginning of the game a slightly less steep learning curve
  • Secret fireworks now have hints that point you towards them
    • The first secret firework is now in plain sight so you can realize that secret fireworks exist
  • Changed the sky, adding more stars and the moon
    • Added clouds
  • Made water more realistic
  • The pause menu's background isn't a checkerboard pattern anymore
    • Instead, the game view is darkened
  • Added an option for mouse sensitivity
  • Removed many faces from the world geometry, mostly ones that are out of bounds
  • Additional fireworks have been added into the firework show
    • The secret fireworks' initial particles and the grand firework's initial particles have been made bigger, to distinguish them between the regular fireworks
    • The firework show has been made faster; fireworks will be skipped if they haven't been collected
      • For example, if the player hasn't collected any secret fireworks, the game will skip straight to the grand firework, instead of waiting around for inactive fireworks
  • The player's firework explosion particles are no longer affected by the player's rotation
  • Some surfaces are now reflective
  • When approaching the exit(which leads into the outro,) the environment will darken
  • Additional details have been added, including houses
  • The tutorials have simplified, relying more on drawings than text

Other Things

  • Added a WebGL build
    • It's not good, so it isn't here at all
  • Added a debug mode
    • Allows you to teleport between checkpoints
    • Used to allow you to crash the game
    • Also allows you to test the ending of the game
    • Only accessible through the Unity Editor
  • Added an easter egg
    • Get to it by pressing some buttons(both of them are in the area before the first secret firework,) and by clipping through a random wall
